Health Guarantee & Puppy Sales Agreement

Every Poodles of Piedmont puppy is backed by one of the most comprehensive health guarantees offered by any Standard Poodle breeder in the Southeast.

NOTE TO PURCHASER OF GOOD FAITH: All canines have the potential for genetic or congenital disease. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some diseases, they cannot always be eliminated. It is the job of the Breeder, through selective breeding, to try and minimize — not eliminate — these conditions in good faith. Please read and fully understand the following sections of this Health Guarantee and Sales Agreement.

Poodles of Piedmont shall hereinafter be referred to as the "Breeder". The original purchasing party, and solely the original purchasing party, shall hereinafter be referred to as the "Purchaser".

Payment Terms

A $300.00 non-refundable deposit is required to be placed on our Master Waitlist. The deposit is applied toward the total purchase price of $1,950.00, which must be paid in full prior to the Purchaser taking ownership of the puppy. Payment is accepted in cash or credit card.

North Carolina sales tax applies to all puppy purchases and will be collected at each payment.

If full payment is not received within 14 days after the puppy's 8-week birth date, the puppy will be offered to other parties. There are no refunds of deposits unless the puppy is found to be unfit for sale.

Spay / Neuter Agreement

The Purchaser agrees to spay or neuter this puppy before its 18-month birthday. The puppy being purchased is intended as a pet/companion only and will not be bred or mated at any time prior to being spayed or neutered. If this dog is found to have been used for breeding, it will be considered a Breach of Contract.

Veterinary Examination

This puppy is sold with no known health or genetic defects. The Breeder certifies that, upon receipt, the dog is in good health and has been immunized and de-wormed per the accompanying health record. The Purchaser agrees to have the dog examined by a licensed veterinarian of the Purchaser's choosing, at the Purchaser's expense, within 48 hours of taking possession of the puppy.

If the veterinarian does not give the dog a clean bill of health, the Purchaser must notify the Breeder immediately. The Breeder reserves the right to have the puppy re-examined by the Breeder's veterinarian at the Breeder's cost. A copy of the examination results must be emailed to the Breeder within 5 days of receipt of the puppy — failure to provide results will render this Health Guarantee null and void.

5-Year Hereditary Health Guarantee

Poodles of Piedmont guarantees all puppies against life-altering hereditary and congenital defects for a period of five (5) years from the date of birth. This includes:

  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA-prcd)
  • Neonatal Encephalopathy with Seizures (NEwS)
  • GM2 Gangliosidosis
  • Von Willebrand Disease (vWD)
  • Degenerative Myelopathy
  • Crippling hip and elbow dysplasia and pathological spinal disorder
  • Any heritable condition covered by our full genetic panel

In the event a covered condition is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian, the Breeder shall, at the Breeder's choice, either refund the Purchaser the purchase price of the puppy or replace the puppy with the next available puppy of equal value. The Breeder will not be responsible for any veterinarian costs or medical expenses prior to the return of the puppy. All transportation costs to return the dog and/or receive a replacement are at the Purchaser's expense.

A statement from a licensed veterinarian confirming the genetic defect is required before any action will be taken. The Breeder reserves the right to request a second opinion by a veterinarian of the Breeder's choosing.

Contact the Breeder before rehoming if you are ever unable to care for your dog. Return is on a surrender basis with no refund. Any re-homing to another party must be approved by the Breeder in advance. The Purchaser agrees not to sell this dog to any retail company or establishment.

ENS / Super Puppy Program

All Poodles of Piedmont litters participate in our Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Super Puppy socialization program, performed during the critical development window of days 3–16. This program produces puppies with stronger cardiovascular performance, greater stress tolerance, and greater resistance to disease. Learn more about our ENS program →

Tail Docking & Dewclaw Removal

All Poodles of Piedmont puppies have their tails docked to show length and dewclaws removed at approximately 3 days of age, per AKC Standard Poodle breed standard. This is included at no additional cost.
